Similar Artists: Aerial M, The Sea And Cake, Arab Strap, Future Pilot A.K.A.

The spacey, mellow, Glasgow, Scotland-based indie rock outfit International Airport is essentially the project of Tom Crossley, who previously collaborated with the Pastels and Appendix Out. Crossley formed International Airport in 1996, employing a loose collective of contributors when the group began recording. Their first release was a 1999 7" on All City titled Airport Songs; International Airport's full-length debut, Nothing We Can Control, was issued in 2000, featuring studio help from Tortoise's John McEntire.

Instrumental/Post-Rock/Experimental
Similar Artists: Sonic Youth, To Rococo Rot, Main

Aerial M was the alias of multi-instrumentalist David Pajo, a seminal figure in the development of the post-rock aesthetic whose tenures in bands including Slint and Tortoise set the stage for some of the most innovative and influential music of recent decades.

Animal Collective
Similar Artists: Four Tet, Piano Magic, Múm
Explores the fringes and intersecting boundaries of folk, noise rock, ambient drone, twisted psychedelia, and, ultimately, pure melody.

Pan American
Post-Rock/Experimental/Dark Ambient

A more beat-oriented solo project for guitarist/vocalist Mark Nelson of Labradford, Pan American debuted with a self-titled album on Kranky in 1998. Nelson recorded a track for the British experimentalist-electronic label Fat Cat's Split series, and also played live with pedal-steel genius B.J. Cole. His second Pan American LP, 360 Business/360 Bypass, appeared in early 2000 with collaborations from Chicago trumpeter Rob Mazurek and the members of Low.
